Doll Preparation

It takes me about 3-4 days to finish one handmade doll set. Each doll is made by hand and therefore will vary from doll to doll. Your doll is uniquely yours including the charm of small imperfections. For the Waldorf inspired doll collection, completion takes much longer to finish as the process involves an intricate needle-felting technique. All materials used are responsibly sourced.

Sewing Machine as a Tool: just like a needle, a pair of scissors to stitch and cut, my process involves a sewing machine as a tool to sew all final pieces of the doll body parts together.

From the Netherlands: The high quality doll skin/ doll jersey used to make the dolls is from De Witte Engel. Fabric is Oeko-Tex certified free of harmful chemicals and safe for human use. It is made from 100% cotton and double-knitted. The same doll skin is used for making the famous Waldorf dolls.

The doll’s body is stuffed with natural fibers (wool) from the Netherlands combined with Oeko-Tex certified toy filling from Germany .

Types of doll hairs I use:

1.) Made from synthetic fibers sewn manually in place

2.) 100% all natural, ethically sourced Mohair (Angora goat) / Alpaca locks (Alpaca)

Face: The current collection of dolls have eyes and lips embroidered by hand. You may also find some dolls from my previous collections having buttoned-eyes (LoLi). For the Waldorf inspired doll collection, the facial features were achieved by an intricate needle-felting technique.

All of the fabrics used were consciously selected (eco-friendly) and were washed before and after sewing.

Cheek Blush: The dolls’ cheeks are blushed with all natural beeswax from De Witte Engel.

A standard doll set comes with outfit changes.  Additional clothes and accessories are also added in as freebies. These clothes can be washed gently. Please note that the doll’s underwear is not meant to be removed.

Dolls with Non-Removable Clothes: For “highly customized” dolls, it is likely that the entire clothing is sewn on to the body and are NOT meant to be removed.

Each doll set will arrive on your doorstep carefully packaged, in an eco-friendly, reusable box. Depending on the courier service and ETA, sometimes I’ll opt for double packaging to reduce the chances of the doll/s being damaged when the box is jostled or in the event of rugged handling. Box design may change from time to time.
